POEM: Rainbow worship

BY DOUG KAZÉ

As Christy’s liquid Indian voice
Ran in the room

Brad, coloured drummer,
Luthando, black pianist,
Joel, white bassist,

All ceased to be colours
And became hues and shades
In an Artist’s masterwork

Defeating the wounds and words of history
We became children again
Our hearts all stirred by the love of a Jew
