POEM: Atlantis and colposcopy

A poem by the award-winning author Diane Awerbuck

BY DIANE AWERBUCK

Centuries of high ground
but it stinks of the sea,
of birds made flesh from the old fish.
I am the Girl Moses.
I walk between the tarmac and the stones.
I divide the tarmac and the stones.
I divide,
and my cells divide with me,
healthy,
round on round,
clinking like pebbles,
separate
and musical
and new.

It put me in a different space. Incredible.

You’ve got to read David Sedaris on Colonoscopy then. Very funny. And I like your poem.

    Thank you.
