Eating Papaya by Zita S. Consani

POEM: Eating Papaya

A poem by Zita S. Consani

BY ZITA S. CONSANI

I slit the papaya’s womb.
Two perfect virgin halves.
Each a whole vulva,
Dissected.
Moist, apricot-lipped.
They lie defenseless,
embedded with caviar –
black glistening seed.
A shudder in my bowels
as I rape her uterus
of black eggs
